New England College women's cross-country runner Abby Shafer finished second overall and was the top DIII finisher at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational hosted by UMass-Dartmouth Saturday afternoon. Shafer finished the 5K race in a time of 17:59, 19 seconds shy of the first place finisher and seven seconds faster than the third place finisher.
